Job Summary:
The Managing Director, Capital Markets will be responsible for developing, implementing, managing and reporting on the funding and hedging strategies of the company. This role will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and will work closely in a collaborative and integrated manner with their peers who lead the accounting and finance teams who also report directly to the CFO. This role requires a self-starter and entrepreneurial mentality to develop and implement increased capital markets demands on Trimont following the acquisition of the Wells Fargo non-agency CRE servicing business.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the relationship management activities with all corporate funding providers, ensuring a proactive management approach. This will include managing the relationships across both the various asset level equity and all debt (corporate and asset level) facilities.
- Manage the firm’s banking relationships specifically in relation to deposit accounts and strategies for associated revenue creation and protection.
- Develop proposed financing options for financing corporate entities and assets on an ongoing basis for consideration by executive management and the Board. This will include both the refinancing of current facilities and also the strategy for future financing, both debt and asset level equity, of Commercial Servicing Contracts (CSCs) and Servicing Advances (SAs).
- Develop effective working relationships with the relevant members of the various Värde teams to ensure an integrated approach to hedging, lending and equity investment strategies.
- Partnering with Värde where applicable, coordinating all equity investor relations and investor reporting requirements.
- Oversee the reporting and returns of the CSC and SA investment vehicles.
- Working closely with a cross section of departments within the company, including but not limited to finance, risk & data reporting and treasury, develop a detailed ongoing understanding of the current and projected interest rate exposures across the company’s platform.
- Using this understanding, and working in collaboration with our capital providers, develop and execute comprehensive interest rate hedging strategies that achieve the company’s strategic objectives and compliance obligations with our capital providers.
- Develop effective business relationships with hedging providers across the company’s lender and capital provider base to ensure that diverse options are constantly being considered and assessed.
- Outline and implement effective business reporting to ensure compliance requirements are effectively tracked and reported in an effective, efficient and timely manner.
- Prepare and distribute monthly internal hedging compliance reporting along with all reporting related to covenant and compliance reporting with our capital providers.
- Consistently monitor interest rate and corporate lending markets and provide effective business intelligence on market movements and trends, along with financing and hedging options with pricing for management to consider.
- Prepare detailed risk assessments, business cases, cash flow models and projects for Board approval of proposed financing and hedging strategies.
- Initiate and develop effective working relationships with third party derivative andfinancing legal counsel to ensure effective and seamless execution of agreed strategies.
- Develop a detailed understanding of the company’s borrowing facilities and compliance requirements. Use this knowledge to ensure effective and efficient compliance reporting and monitoring practices are in place.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in finance or a business-related degree.
- Advanced understanding of the corporate lending market.
- Advanced understanding of the interest rate hedging market, structures & practices, compliance documentation and reporting requirements.
- 10 years' experience in related fields.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to critically assess data points and develop innovative solutions.
- Demonstrates disciplined attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and project management abilities.
- Committed to consistently delivering high-quality work across all tasks.
- Adept of working efficiently in a deadline-oriented environment within a defined reporting framework.
- Knowledge of commercial real estate financing and securitization transactions and related terminology is preferred.
