Position Overview
As a Line Leader, you will play a crucial role in our production team. The Line Lead Operator is an on-the-line position, responsible for contributing to and driving the daily execution of a production line while ensuring that the quality and safety standards are met. The Line Lead Operator provides guidance and support to all production operators. The Line Lead Operator also monitors the performance and efficiency of the production equipment, troubleshoots any issues, and coordinates with the maintenance and engineering teams when issues exceed the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for Production personnel. The Line Lead Operator reports to the Shift Lead and works closely with other departments such as quality control, logistics, and inventory. The Line Lead Operator will directly lead a team of up to 35 operators.
Line Lead Responsibilities:
- Oversee the operation of the designated line or area.
- Ensure equipment is set up properly and labor is sufficient.
- Troubleshoot machine issues, including knowing when to escalate for maintenance assistance.
- Train your team in all safety procedures, ensure safety compliance, ensure paperwork is completed as required, and is the preferred trainer on their designated line.
- Responsible for directing line personnel and working as part of the operation team, while demonstrating the ability to work independently, as necessary.
- Complete all scheduled production to current standard run rates in the time allocated.
- Responsible for 5S management on designated line.
- Identify the processes or machines contributing most to downtime and prioritize them for improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing overall productivity.
- Closely monitor and address defects and material losses, implementing corrective actions to mitigate these issues and improve production quality and efficiency.
- Complete all necessary production-related reports and actively participate in meetings with the Shift Supervisor.
- Direct the production staff, assign tasks, and provide training and feedback.
- Perform other duties and special project, as assigned by leadership.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a manufacturing production environment.
- Previous experience as a production lead operator or a similar role.
- Knowledge of the manufacturing production process, equipment, and tools.
- Knowledge of quality and safety standards, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to operate, troubleshoot, and maintain the production equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, manuals, and instructions.
- Ability to perform basic math and measurements.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet production goals and deadlines.
- Ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team of production staff.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with other departments and stakeholders.
- Problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Physical stamina and strength to lift and move heavy objects (max of 50 pounds).
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic computer skills and other related manufacturing software.
- Bilingual a plus
