What are the responsibilities and job description for the Property and Liability Claims Technician position at TRINDEL INSURANCE FUND?
POSITION PURPOSE
The Property and Liability Claims Technician, under the direct supervision of the Trindel Insurance Fund Director of Property and Liability Claims, is responsible for the timely opening of all new property and liability claims for Member Counties. In addition, upon assignment from the Director of Property and Liability Claims, the Property and Liability Claims Technician will investigate and fully adjust low exposure first and third party property damage claims, from first notice of loss through closure in accordance with Trindel Insurance Fund’s Claims Handling Guidelines. The Property and Liability Claims Technician will also work closely with Trindel Insurance Fund staff, Member County staff, claimants, and vendors.
This position may provide additional work related opportunities for professional advancement on a case-by-case basis within the Trindel organization.
ORGANIZATION FIT:
This position reports to the Director of Property and Liability Claims. The incumbent works in support of Trindel’s mission and the goals and objectives of the Fund to provide extraordinary customer service and support to internal and external customers.

JOB SETTING
This position is located in a professional office environment that provides comprehensive Insurance and Risk management services for counties belonging to Trindel Insurance Fund, a joint powers authority. Trindel’s administrative office is located in Weaverville, California, with a service area throughout northern and central California and eastern Sierra locations of the state.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES (Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following tasks, knowledge, skills and other characteristics. · Establishes and monitors property and liability claims in claims management software.
· Maintains claim records, reports, logs, notes, documents, and loss runs.
· Performs preliminary investigations into incidents involving claims.
· Provides claims adjusting support to Director of Property and Liability claims, and Property and Liability Claims Adjuster(s).
· Proactively manage and control assigned first and third party property damage claim inventory.
· Process legal and indemnity payments at the direction of the Director of Property and Liability Claims.
· Maintains claim files in accordance with the Trindel Insurance Fund Claims Handling Guidelines.
· Investigates, analyzes, documents assigned property and liability claims.
· Monitors the expiration of statute of limitations for court filings on assigned cases.
· Maintains an effective diary system for managing case load.
· Prepares and delivers reports to the applicable excess insurers.
· Initiates and prepares excess insurance recovery requests.
· Prepares written notices and letters in response to claims.
· Makes frequent phone calls to Member County Staff, Claimants, and Vendors.
· Regularly handles private and proprietary information while maintaining strict confidentiality and protecting from unauthorized disclosure.
· Will require overnight travel and attending trainings and meetings as necessary.
· Perform various routine clerical duties, utilizing standard office equipment to include, but not limited to the following: maintaining calendars; entering information into databases and spreadsheets; making photocopies; faxing documents; typing; and word processing.
· Perform other duties as assigned by the Director Property and Liability Claims.
· Performs all work in a safe and effective manner.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Abilities required for the essential duties:
· Knowledge of property and liability claims administration.
· PC literate, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
· Effective analytical and interpretive skills

Education & Experience required for the essential duties:
· Two year degree at an accredited college.
· Possession of a current paralegal certificate.
· One(1)-Three (3) years’ experience working within a claims, insurance, or legal setting.
