The Opportunity :
The Department of Music at Trine University invites applications for a Director ofMusic Programs / Assistant Professor of Music. The successful candidate will be anexcellent teacher, conductor, leader, and recruiter, whose focus is on growing theUniversity’s music programs both in terms of size and quality. We particularly seekcandidates able to work collaboratively and build relationships with constituenciesacross campus and in the local community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Direct and administer all aspects of the Sound of Thunder Marching Band and the athleticpep band, including overseeing the summer band camp.
- Direct the wind ensemble, jazz band, and chamber orchestra.
- Actively recruit students from regional high schools to participate in the music programs.
- Teach undergraduate courses.
- Recruit, hire, and evaluate adjunct faculty, including those overseeing the TrineUniversity Choir.
- Work collaboratively with the departments of Athletics and Events to coordinate musicperformances.
- Develop relationships with band directors across the region as well as key constituenciesin the local Angola community.
Required education :
Master’s degree in music education, performance, conducting or related disciplinerequired. A doctoral degree is preferred.
