The candidate for this position must be two years in recovery from substance use disorders and a willingness to self-identify as a person in recovery. The position requires time management skills, ability to multitask, flexibility, and organizational skills. Job deputies include providing peer support individual and group sessions, crisis intervention, case management, coordination/linkage with community resources. High School Degree required. Applicants with a peer support specialist certification are highly desired.
The candidate will work in the Marion County Detention Center although some work will be done in our Trinity Behavioral Care-Marion Office Location.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $33,000.00 - $35,000.00 per year. Salary dependent on experience and certification/licensure.
Peer Support Specialist-Grant Funded: Entry level Peer Support Specialist position with a minimum of two years in recovery from substance use disorders and the ability to demonstrate recovery expertise under the direction of supervisory personnel. The candidate must have a minimum of a High School diploma. The candidate works at the Detention Center Monday thru Friday. The position is full-time (40 hours) a week, to include one late night in an outpatient setting. Candidate must have working knowledge of addiction. Must acquire and maintain peer support specialist certification.
Job responsibilities:
· Provide peer support individual and group sessions.
· Provide self help activities to persons seeking and in need of recovery.
· Follow up with clients after being released from detention center.
· Coaches and supports inmates for and through substance use treatment services.
· Assist supervisor with collecting outcome data.
· Be a liaison to Identify and support available community resources.
· Link inmates to resources in the community after release.
