Position Overview:

The Behavioral Health Technician at Trinity Care’s Crisis House plays a crucial role in supporting individuals who are experiencing mental health or emotional crises, with a specific focus on substance use recovery. As part of a dynamic team, you will provide immediate, short-term support to clients in crisis, assisting with stabilization, crisis de-escalation, and daily living activities in a safe and therapeutic environment.

This role requires someone who is compassionate, calm under pressure and able to provide hands-on care to clients in distress. You will collaborate closely with our clinical team to implement treatment plans, offer emotional support, and ensure the safety and well-being of clients during their stay. You will also monitor client progress and assist in the transition to further treatment or resources as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct care and support to individuals experiencing mental health crises and substance use challenges
  • Assist with de-escalation and crisis intervention, maintaining a calm and controlled environment
  • Observe and document changes in client behavior, symptoms and health status
  • Work with clinical staff to implement individualized treatment plans
  • Assist clients with daily activities, such as meal preparation, personal hygiene and maintaining cleanliness in living areas
  • Provide emotional support to clients, helping them manage stress, anxiety or other mental health symptoms
  • Ensure safety protocols are followed and maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines
  • Participate in team meetings and ongoing training to stay informed of best practices in mental health and substance use recovery
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree or higher in psychology, social work or a related field preferred
  • At least one year experience in a behavioral health, mental health or crisis intervention role is preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations
  • Empathetic with the ability to maintain professional boundaries
  • Ability to work with diverse population and manage a variety of challenging behaviors
  • Med Tech certification a plus
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of employment)
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Understanding of addiction recovery principles and challenges.
  • Compassionate, patient, and non-judgmental approach to care.
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Must pass a background check and drug screening.
