We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Billing Specialist to join our team.
As a Billing Specialist at Trinity Care, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of client billing and insurance claims. You will play a critical role in ensuring that all charges are processed correctly, payments are collected efficiently, and all billing records comply with healthcare regulations. This position requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to hanle sensitive patient and insurance information.
Key Responsibilities:
Billing and Payment Processing
o Process client billing, including entering charges and applying payments.
o Ensure accuracy in financial records by verifying charges, discounts and adjustments.
o Review and process patient statements, making necessary adjustments to charges.
o Reconcile patient accounts and resolve discrepancies in billing records.
Claims Management and Insurance Verification
o Submit claims to insurance companies in a timely manner, ensuring adherence to insurance policies and compliance with regulations.
o Follow up on unpaid or denied claims, working with insurance companies to resolve outstanding balances.
o Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility before services are rendered.
o Maintain up-to-date knowledge of insurance regulations, billing codes, and industry standards.
Customer Service and Communication
o Address client billing inquiries, providing clear explanations and payment options.
o Collaborate with clients to establish payment plans when necessary.
o Communicate effectively with insurance providers, healthcare professionals, and patients to resolve billing discrepancies.
o Maintain professional and courteous communication with all parties involved.
Documentation and Record Keeping
o Ensure that all billing documents are properly filed and stored in compliance with Trinity Care’s confidentiality and security policies.
o Update client billing records to reflect changes in insurance or personal information.
o Assist in preparing reports for management and auditing purposes.
Compliance and Audit
o Review and audit billing records for accuracy and compliance with healthcare regulations.
o Take corrective actions as needed to address any errors or discrepancies identified during audits.
o Stay informed on relevant changes in healthcare laws and regulations related to billing practices.
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in medical billing or coding preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing or healthcare administrative roles.
- Knowledge of healthcare insurance, medical terminology and billing codes.
- Familiarity with billing software and healthcare management systems.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, insurance companies and healthcare providers.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
