Overview
We are looking for a dedicated substitute teacher and Christ follower to be a long-term substitute for one of our first grade classes. Our passionate teachers are dedicated to making sure that every child receives the care and attention that he or she needs to thrive. The rich curriculum and engaging, spacious classrooms help foster a robust learning experience for every child. The Lower School offers an environment where students learn to play, develop friendships and love learning. Students have daily opportunities to engage in worship, Bible study and prayer to further their love and trust of Christ. The dates for this position are March 17, 2025 - May 16, 2025.
General Responsibilities
- Full-time teaching load for First Grade Teacher
- Ability to build a good report with students
- Work cohesively and collaborate with other members of the First Grade Teaching Team
- Teach academics along with personal, social and emotional skills
- Utilize a variety of activities and instructional methods to motivate and stimulate the student's learning experience
- Assess student's performance and progress to ensure they are mastering the skills taught on a regular basis
- Stay abreast of best practices in teaching First Grade students
- Demonstrate a love for students and a desire to personally invest in their spiritual, emotional and social development
- Incorporate Biblical principles and character traits into daily curriculum
- Demonstrate the fruits of the spirit (Gal. 5:22-23) in daily work, and interactions with students and colleagues
Required Education, Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or related field
- Experience in teaching lower school is required
- Experience in teaching First Grade students is strongly preferred
- Create a classroom environment that fosters growth and learning
- Fully in line with TCA's Christian values and Biblical Statements and Policies
- Have a willing heart for service (Ephesians 6:7)
Physical, Mental and Environmental Requirements
- Normal physical demands of teaching (including, but not limited to, standing, reaching, stooping, squatting down, kneeling, and occasional lifting)
- Must be able to give, receive and analyze information, prepare written materials and input information into a computer
- Must be able to effectively communicate with colleagues, students and parents, answering questions in a professional and friendly manner
- Strong communication skills required
