What are the responsibilities and job description for the Music Director/Accompanist position at Trinity Christian UCC?
Objective:
The Music Director/Accompanist is responsible for the musical organization at Trinity Christian UCC including, but not limited to, Sunday Worship Services, special services and choirs. The Music Director/Accompanist will strive to bring the congregation closer to God through hymns, anthems and praise songs.
Responsibilities:
1. Sunday Worship Service
- Hymn selection that relates to the Pastor's message and/or the scriptures for each service
- Prelude or Introit
- Choir Anthem that relates to the Pastor's message and/or the scriptures for each service
- Offertory
- Communion Music (during distribution of communion elements)
- Postlude
2. Choir Director
- Adult and Junior Choirs - September through the last Sunday in May
- Anthem and Hymn selection
- Conduct weekly rehearsals on Wednesdays 7-8
- Arrange for special musical selections during summer months (solo's, etc.)
3. Special Services
- Christmas Eve, Lenten & Holy Week and other special services as scheduled.
- Cantata or special music arrangements
- First offer shall be extended to the Music Director/Accompanist to play at weddings, funerals, other special services or events in the Church. A suggested fee schedule has been established by Consistory for weddings and funerals.
Miscellaneous
- Work an average of 10 hours per week
- Expertise of digital piano
- Ability to educate and inspire musicians of all skill levels
- Maintain CCLI compliance and any mandatory reporting requirements.
- Inform both Pastor and Secretary of the Sunday hymn and anthem selections timely
- Four (4) weeks of vacations
- Responsible for scheduling substitute or other arrangements for vacation days
- Participate in staff meetings with the Pastor and Secretary when applicable
- Participate in Worship Committee meetings as scheduled
- Provide valid Pennsylvania Clearances (PA State Police Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance, FBI Clearance, Training certificate of completion)
