Certified Nurse Assistant Instructor for Lab/Clinical - Adjunct
Trinity Washington University is seeking a dynamic CNA instructor to teach the following Saturday Lab/Clinical section for the Advanced Technical Center (ATC) Dual Enrollment High School Program within the College of Arts and Sciences. The Advanced Technical Center is a partnership with the Office of the State Superintendent of Education to provide DC high school students with the opportunity to complete dual enrollment pathways in health sciences. Under the supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer in the School of Nursing and Health Professions, the successful applicant will have the ability to teach the clinical course in our CNA program. The adjunct instructor will teach this course at the ATC’s Penn Center, which is located at 1709 3rd St NE.
NURS 102, Certified Nursing Aide Lab/Clinical: Saturday, 9:00AM – 5:00PM (3 Credit/Course)
The Spring Semester ATC didactic classes start on January 21, 2025, and the Saturday Lab/Clinical will begin in March. This role would include additional compensation commensurate with the additional hours at a rate of $2,065 per credit.
Qualifications:
Successful candidates should have the following credentials:
- Current unencumbered Registered Nurse license for the District of Columbia
- An associate degree in nursing required. Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
- Teaching experience in CNA programs preferred.
- Minimum of two-three years of clinical experience as a registered nurse, and
- Current knowledge of nursing practice at the nursing assistant level.
Job Responsibilities:
- Teaches assigned courses/clinicals.
- Provides classroom and course management in a manner that is consistent with professional conduct.
- Keeps regular office hours in accordance with the procedures designated by Trinity policy.
- Assists students outside of scheduled class times.
- Utilizes methods of instruction and teaching techniques that are appropriate to the fulfillment of course outcomes and objectives.
- Develops and maintains course outlines/calendars and makes them available to the students one week prior to the start of class.
- Maintains accurate class rosters (attendance reports) and submits same in the manner and at times required by the ATC.
- Attends adjunct meetings and workshops as scheduled.
- Participates in the adjunct evaluation process.
- Notifies Dean of any absences or alterations in the class schedule in advance and in writing, if possible.
- Reviews and recommends textbooks, reference materials, software, audio visual aids, and learning resources for classroom use.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge through reading professional publications and attending workshops and conferences as appropriate.
- Has knowledge in working with students with disabilities and coordinating services.
