Position Summary
Trinity College seeks a staff that reflects the changing demographics of our student body. Our student body is diverse, representing forty-one states and seventy countries, with 21 percent U.S. students of color and 50 percent who identify as women. More than 90 percent of students live on campus. Trinity is a highly selective, independent, nonsectarian liberal arts institution located in the capital city of Hartford, Connecticut. With more than 2,100 full-time undergraduate students and ninety-one graduate students, the college maintains a rigorous academic profile complemented by a vibrant and diverse co-curricular program. We consider our location in a culturally and socioeconomically diverse capital city to be among Trinity’s most distinctive assets, and we cultivate strong connections with our surrounding neighbors and with institutions and organizations throughout Hartford and the region. As a preeminent liberal arts college in an urban setting, Trinity College prepares students to be bold, independent thinkers who lead transformative lives.
The Trinity College Campus Safety Department is an engaged, professional community-oriented department that ensures the safety and security of the College through problem solving and partnerships. This is achieved by supporting a diverse workforce, continuous training, and a collaborative approach to safeguarding the campus through extensive interaction and partnerships with students, faculty, staff, visitors, and the broader Hartford community.
Campus Safety is part of the Division of Student Success and Enrollment Management. The goal of this division is to support the mission of Trinity College by delivering exceptional educational, athletic, recreational, and developmental experiences focused on the principles and values of community, diversity, equity, and inclusivity. We seek to hire qualified individuals to provide for the health and well-being of our students, faculty, staff, and surrounding community. The staff in Campus Safety play a vital role in supporting a positive student experience and helping to create a campus environment that supports student retention and graduation. We also seek to hire individuals who value life-long learning. Our policies support the mission of the college and in doing so we have emphasized the following key areas in our policies to enhance Campus Safety’s support of an inclusive campus climate: implementation of anti-discrimination/bias-free policing policy; increased focus on community policing/engagement; formalized & enhanced accountability systems; and the development of crisis intervention/de-escalation and use of force policies.
The Operations Administrator is responsible for providing support to the director to ensure that campus safety operations including patrol, communications, cameras, parking enforcement, emergency operations and crime suppression are operating effectively and per policy. Holds responsibilities for maintaining staffing levels, coordinating training programs, maintaining staff certifications and records compliance with college policy, federal, state and local city laws. Works closely with other college departments, community members, families, visitors and outside partners.
