What are the responsibilities and job description for the Commercial Door and Hardware Estimator position at Trinity Door Systems?
COMMERCIAL DOOR AND HARDWARE ESTIMATOR
The Commercial Door and Hardware Estimator’s role is like the magic of spackle in construction; it is all about filling in the gaps and making a smooth final result. The Estimator helps fill the gaps of our customer’s door needs. We love automatics, but sometimes customers need a manual or hollow metal door too! This division of the door world is it’s own three ring circus! Wrangling info from take offs and site surveys, whipping the suppliers for pricing, juggling material sourcing, taming estimates, and cramming all the administrative, technical, sales, and customer service skills into the clown car of this door career!
What Does the Commercial Door Estimator Do?
A typical day starts with caffeine jolt and a perusal of the recent site surveys submitted by technicians. After filling in any blanks like a wild door version of Mad Libs, you get to work contacting vendors, gathering prices, following up with customers on previously submitted quotes. Closing the sale is almost as fun as closing the new door after it is installed! Juggling the phone and email as you communicate with customers, suppliers, technicians, and the Project Manager is all part of the normal circus act of commercial door and hardware estimating. Snacks, puns, and witty banter amongst the office staff is a must to keep everyone positive amid the chaos of this big top act.

We are pretty busy so we will contact those we wish to interview. Hint # 3 We work on automatic pedestrians entrances, not the garage doors. If someone drives a car through one of our doors, one of our techs is having a bad day!
