THERAPIST JOB DESCRIPTION:
Under general clinical supervision, this position addresses multiple interlocking concerns for persons with substance abuse and mental health challenges and provides trauma-informed, integrated psychoeducational groups.
Knowledge And Skills:
Knowledge of the dynamics of the interwoven challenges of both substance abuse and mental health diagnosis and their impact upon clients and their families; of the principles and techniques of evidence-based, trauma-informed treatment and their application to individual client care; of community resources; of physiological and psychological effects of chemical dependency; and of general social, economic and health problems for clients with co-occurring disorders.
Ability to engage, screen, interview and treat chemically dependent and/or co-occurring clients using psychoeducational groups to evaluate and implement new treatment methods as established by the clinical team; to create and maintain effective working relationships with others; to demonstrate culturally competent knowledge and understanding of the concepts of a recovery culture, including 12 Step philosophy; to communicate effectively with others, both orally and in writing; and to speak before large groups.
Ability to promote client access to treatment, provide lectures and group psychoeducational services. Willing to fulfill any job-related travel normally associated with position. Possession of a valid Oklahoma driver’s license.
Education And Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or an addiction related field and be appropriately licensed or under supervision and in good standing with their licensure board (i.e., CADC, LADC, LBHP, LPC, LCSW, LMSW). At least one (1) year experience working with clients who have both mental illness and addiction issues or in a position with a dual emphasis.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Clinician will demonstrate an understanding of trauma-informed care and its multiple applications in treatment.
Clinician will practice culturally competent interactions with clients and colleagues, including a working knowledge of what a recovery culture entails and the principles of 12 Step programs and mental health, and other community resources.
Provide ethical clinical services and maintain clinical record documentation that are in compliance with accepted ethical standards for alcohol/drug treatment professionals, licensed professional counselors and social workers.
Provide effective lectures and group psycho educational services in the area of addiction services, with substance abuse clients, family and/or significant others.
Utilize personal knowledge and clinical skills related to maintain positive work relations with co-workers and work as part of a multi-disciplinary treatment team.
Understands the evidence-based modalities utilized in co-occurring disorders.
Additional duties as required.
