Job Title: Shear Operator
Schedule: 3rd Shift - Sunday-Thursday, 10:30PM - 7:00AM
Pay: $17/hr
Location: Tulsa, OK
Position Overview:
We are seeking a Shear Operator for our clean and well-organized shop. The role involves operating two different shear machines to cut metal plate. This position requires someone who is detail-oriented and willing to learn through hands-on training. You will work closely with team members to pull, stage, and load materials, while ensuring machine operation is efficient and precise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain two shear machines, ensuring metal plates are cut accurately to specifications.
- Pull and stage materials for production, ensuring they are ready for the next stage of manufacturing.
- Follow material sheets and input material details into the company’s proprietary software, ensuring accuracy.
- Work from production schedules, typically planned out 2 weeks in advance.
- Ensure all barcoded materials are handled correctly, including proper tagging and location storage.
- Operate a forklift and, if needed, an overhead crane (training available for overhead crane).
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to company safety protocols.
- Participate in hands-on training to develop a deeper understanding of machine operation and material handling.
- Collaborate with team members to meet production goals and deadlines.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience operating shear machines is a plus, but we welcome green candidates eager to learn.
- Forklift experience is required (overhead crane experience a plus, training available).
- Comfortable with computer entry and software (Worldship experience is a plus, but not required).
- Ability to read material specifications and follow work instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
- Must be able to lift and move materials, with a focus on safety.

* Start machines, monitor their operations, and record operational data.
* Set up, operate, or tend machines to saw, cut, shear, slit, punch, crimp, notch, bend, or straighten metal or plastic material.
* Test and adjust machine speeds or actions, according to product specifications, using gauges and hand tools.
* Install, align, and lock specified punches, dies, cutting blades, or other fixtures in rams or beds of machines, using gauges, templates, feelers, shims, and hand tools.
* Read work orders or production schedules to determine specifications, such as materials to be used, locations of cutting lines, or dimensions and tolerances.
* Position guides, stops, holding blocks, or other fixtures to secure and direct workpieces, using hand tools and measuring devices.
* Position, align, and secure workpieces against fixtures or stops on machine beds or on dies.
* Load workpieces, plastic material, or chemical solutions into machines.
* Adjust ram strokes of presses to specified lengths, using hand tools.
* Clean and lubricate machines.
* Mark identifying data on workpieces.
* Clean work area.
* Plan sequences of operations, applying knowledge of physical properties of workpiece materials.
* Operate forklifts to deliver materials.
* Lubricate workpieces with oil.
* Turn controls to set cutting speeds, feed rates, or table angles for specified operations.
* Scribe reference lines on workpieces as guides for cutting operations, according to blueprints, templates, sample parts, or specifications.
* Place workpieces on cutting tables, manually or using hoists, cranes, or sledges.
* Turn valves to start flow of coolant against cutting areas or to start airflow that blows cuttings away from kerfs.
* Thread ends of metal coils from reels through slitters and secure ends on recoilers.
* Grind out burrs or sharp edges, using portable grinders, speed lathes, or polishing jacks.
* Remove housings, feed tubes, tool holders, or other accessories to replace worn or broken parts, such as springs or bushings.
