This is a remote position that can be located anywhere in the continental US.
We are seeking a skilled Windchill Technical Architect with expertise in designing, developing, and optimizing Windchill Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions for the manufacturing industry. This role focuses on the technical design and implementation of Windchill systems, including integration with enterprise platforms such as ERP, MES, and CAD. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on technical leader with deep experience in customizing Windchill to support engineering and manufacturing processes, ensuring system scalability, reliability, and alignment with organizational objectives.
Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Design and Architecture
- Develop and define technical architectures for Windchill solutions, tailored to manufacturing needs such as BOM management, change management, and product development workflows.
- Ensure seamless integration between Windchill and enterprise systems, including ERP (e.g., SAP, Oracle), MES, and CAD tools (e.g., Creo, SolidWorks).
- Create detailed technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, system configurations, and customizations.
Customization and Development
- Design and implement Windchill customizations, including workflows, lifecycle management, and data models to support manufacturing processes.
- Develop extensions and custom integrations using Windchill APIs (Java, REST, SOAP) and related technologies.
- Optimize system performance by configuring indexes, caches, and database queries for large-scale manufacturing operations.
System Implementation and Deployment
- Lead technical aspects of Windchill implementation projects, including installation, configuration, and data migration.
- Create deployment packages and oversee the migration of Windchill solutions across development, test, and production environments.
- Provide expertise in Windchill upgrades and patches to ensure smooth transitions with minimal impact on operations.
Integration Expertise
- Build and manage integrations between Windchill and enterprise systems such as ERP, MES, CPQ, and IoT platforms using tools like ThingWorx or middleware.
- Define and implement robust data exchange frameworks for engineering and manufacturing collaboration.
Troubleshooting and Support
- Resolve complex technical issues related to Windchill infrastructure, customizations, and integrations.
- Perform root-cause analysis and implement preventative measures to enhance system reliability.
- Work closely with support teams to establish long-term resolutions for recurring issues.
Collaboration and Leadership
- Collaborate with business analysts, solution architects, and manufacturing stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to development teams.
- Review code, technical designs, and implementation plans to ensure alignment with best practices and standards.
QualificationsEducation
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Experience
- 7 years of experience in Windchill PLM systems, focusing on technical architecture and development.
- Proven track record in implementing Windchill for manufacturing organizations, including part & BOM management, Options and Variants, document management, and engineering/manufacturing change processes.
- Hands-on experience in integrating Windchill with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle), MES, and CAD tools (e.g., Creo, SolidWorks).
- Knowledge of the database schema to leverage reporting using query builder or customized reports.
Technical Skills
- Advanced expertise in Windchill architecture, customization, and workflow development.
- Strong programming skills in Java, JSP, XML, and related technologies.
- Experience with APIs (REST, SOAP), ThingWorx, and middleware solutions for system integrations.
- Proficiency in database management (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server) and performance tuning.
- Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or PTC Cloud) is a plus.
- Attention to detail for quality control and maintaining code base.

Location

Pay: $170,000.00 - $225,000.00 per year
