POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The data integration (DI) Developer II is part of an innovative team of developers responsible for the delivery of Business Intelligence (BI) data for Trinity Michigan Medical Group. This is an intermediate level role for an experienced data integration developer who understands data warehouse design and architecture. Primary job functions include data warehousing, data management, and supporting the architectural design of the enterprise data ecosystem, primarily utilizing the Microsoft data technology stack. This position requires developing broad healthcare subject matter expertise to understand customer requests, properly build the data warehouse, support BI reporting, and data analytics needs. DI Developers analyze data models and determine best-fit data integration methods from multiple data sources. They utilize SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages, raw SQL, python scripting, and stored procedures to query, integrate, and transform data. The DI team collaborates closely with their counterparts, the BI Analysts, on defining, analyzing, and validating data objects to meet project deliverables. Data Integration developers forecast resource requirements and establish delivery timetables for new projects, while prioritizing their workloads. They also provide support for production extract/transform/load (ETL) jobs and data warehouse operations. The DI developer keeps up to date on data industry trends and explores areas for process automation and work improvements. They investigate innovative technology like artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and predictive analytics to derive deeper insights from data.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Works closely with business Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and BI Analysts to understand and map business needs into data warehouse and ETL design.
- Creates and maintains Data Warehouse data model following set standards, utilizing both Relational and Dimensional Modeling techniques.
- Creates and maintains ETL jobs to effectively load Enterprise Data Warehouse with good data quality.
- Performs high level data extraction and manipulation from various healthcare databases and files to support organizational quality, utilization initiatives and other information needs.
- Creates and maintains reports, reusable queries and/or dashboards to improve IHA’s operational reporting capability.
- Understands different data delivery and data consumption method and create reports and dashboards as needed.
- Leads Enterprise Data Warehouse projects and acts as technical project manager.
- Creates and maintains metadata and documentation, including data models, data dictionary, data mapping.
- Looks for ways to use data to support IHA’s quadruple aim.
- Keeps up with industrial data technology trends and bring innovative ideas to the organization.
- Understands Business Intelligence, Advanced Analytics, Machine Learning and Robotic Processing.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in computer or data-related field or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Knowledge of the healthcare industry preferred.
CREDENTIALS/LICENSURE: None
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Minimum 5 years’ experience in data warehouse design and development. Experience in production support, reporting tools (SSRS, Crystal Reports, Tableau, Power BI), ETL tools (SSIS), performance tuning and programming. Minimum 3 years’ working experience in health care environment.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS (ABILITIES & SKILLS):
- Minimum 5 years’ working experience in data warehouse and ETL development.
- Minimum 3 years’ working experience in health care environment.
- Expert in creating Data Warehouse data model following set standards, utilizing both Relational and Dimensional Modeling techniques.
- Expert in ETL (Extract, Transform and Load) design and development.
- Expert in SQL Server BI suite, including SSIS, SSRS, SSAS and Power BI.
- Strong SQL/TSQL programming skills.
- Understanding master data management and data quality principles, experience in Microsoft SQL Server Data Quality Services and/or Master Data Services a plus.
- Excellent communication skills in both written and verbal forms, including proper phone etiquette. Ability to speak before groups of people, either in-person or virtually.
- Ability to lead and manage Enterprise Data Warehouse project and provide input to IHA BI strategy.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment; displays courteous and friendly demeanor.
- Ability to mentor and cross-train other team members to improve the team’s overall productivity.
- Ability to work effectively with various levels of organizational members and diverse populations including IHA staff, providers, family members, insurance carriers, and vendors.
- Ability to cross-train in other areas of department in order to achieve smooth flow of all operations.
