Under the direction of the Regional Patient Access Call Center Manager, the Scheduler is responsible for timely and accurate appointment scheduling with expertise in scheduling protocols, registration, insurance requirements/verification, identification of accurate patient responsibility with notification to the patient for the Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic Region which includes Mercy Fitzgerald, Nazareth Hospital, St. Francis Wilmington and St. Mary Medical Center Langhorne.

Scheduler
- Is responsible for pre-registration, scheduling, electronically verifying insurance eligibility and accurately identifying patient financial responsibility.
- Handles complex scheduled events, including high dollar testing, associated studies and those with study specific instructions.
- Begins the overall patient experience and initiates the billing process for any services provided by the hospital.
- Answers the phone in a courteous and professional manner.
- Communicates professionally with physician offices and other departments in the hospital.
- Consistently makes an effort to exceed the needs of the patient.
- High School Diploma or equivalent. Some college preferred.
- Must possess a minimum one (1) to two (2) years’ experience in scheduling and financial clearance in a healthcare setting.
- Ability to schedule for multiple facilities with significant variants in protocols.
- Strong knowledge of third-party and government payer billing and reimbursement guidelines as well as department performance standards and policies and procedures.
- Preferred NAHAM CHAA or AAHAM CRCS certification.
- Ability to communicate and work with patients, physicians, physician office personnel, associates, multiple direct patient care providers and others in order to expedite the registration/intake process.
- Superior customer service skills and etiquette are required. Must be proficient in the use of Patient Registration/Patient Accounting systems and related software systems. Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office business software.
- Ability to evaluate and investigate issues to determine effective resolution to avoid negative financial impact.
