What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cardiac Operating Room Nurse CVOR position at Trinity Health Of New England?
Position Purpose:
At Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center, the Registered Nurse RN in the Cardiovascular Operating Room delivers patient care for surgical patients.
What you will do:
CVOR nurses meticulously prepare the operating room, ensuring that all necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies are sterile and readily accessible.
Actively assist the cardiac surgeon during the procedure. They handle instruments, pass sutures, and manage surgical equipment. While also anticipating the surgeon’s needs, maintaining a sterile field, and responding promptly to any emergent situations.
Educate patients and their families about post-operative care, medications, and potential complications.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Completion of an accredited Nursing Program with an Associate’s degree in Nursing is mandatory. A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is preferred.
Registered Nurse RN Licensure: Must hold a valid and current Connecticut registered nurse licensure.
Experience: A minimum of 1 year of experience in Cardiovascular Operating Room (OR) nursing is required. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in Cardiac Perioperative and Surgical Service lines or General/Main Operating Room settings.
BLS or CPR certification: Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross will be accepted.
Proficiency in practicing according to the recommended standards and guidelines of the Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN).
Position Highlights and Benefits:
Full-Time: 40 hours/week - Day Shift. Rotating weekends and holidays, on-call rotation is required for all shifts.
