The Parent Educator interviews families, develops trusting relationships, identifies families' strengths and areas for growth, serves as a role model and educator, finds needed community resources, advocates on behalf of families, and serves to coordinate treatment with other providers, with a focus on the developmental needs of children. Parenting Support Services focuses on the adult parent(s) and adolescent(s) or young child(ren) within the family unit. Position may require working at multiple sites.

Parenting Support Services focuses on the adult parent(s) and adolescent(s) or young child(ren) within the family unit. Position may require working at multiple sites.
What You Will Do
- Interview families in the home or in the office to discuss their willingness and appropriateness to participate in Parenting Support Services
- Obtain information about child rearing practices, budgeting, lifestyle issues and social interests
- Educate families about parenting, budgeting, community resources, home environment, advocacy, healthy relationships and other relevant topics
- Explain the parameters of the program including purposes, functions, and limitations with client in client's environment
- Review progress with family, Parenting Support Services Supervisor/Manager and assigned DCF Worker to revise goals as needed
- Minimum Bachelor Degree required
- One year in human services or equivalent; home-visiting experience and group work preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills, professional experience with children and families in crisis, cultural sensitivity, knowledge of community resources. Experience running groups and providing 1:1 services
- Bilingual Spanish speaking strongly preferred
- Own reliable transportation is required
- 40hours Mon-Fri days with flexibility to meet the needs of the families
- This is a grant funded position. The Talent Acquisition Partner will be able to provide more details in the form of a Grant Funded Position Agreement.
