What to expect as a Floorperson at Saint Mary Home:
The Floor & Laundry Technician ensures a clean and safe environment for residents, visitors, and staff by performing a variety of housekeeping and maintenance duties. This role includes cleaning resident rooms, common areas, and facility grounds, while adhering to all safety, infection control, and operational guidelines.
Required knowledge, skills & abilities:
- Collects trash, recyclables, and soiled linen throughout the facility.
- Operates housekeeping equipment such as washing machines, dryers, auto-scrubbers, and floor buffers.
- Cleans and disinfects tile floors, stairwells, furniture, and fixtures; performs carpet vacuuming, spot-cleaning, and extraction.
- Cleans and sanitizes bathrooms, resident beds, and appliances.
- Assists with outdoor maintenance, including snow removal during emergencies.
- Ensures compliance with safety, infection control, and hazardous materials policies.
- Promotes customer satisfaction and contributes to quality improvement efforts.
Qualifications:
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Preferred: Six months of housekeeping experience in healthcare settings.
- Physical ability to maneuver, lift up to 60 lbs, and perform cleaning tasks throughout the facility.
This position requires flexibility, teamwork, and dedication to maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and resident safety.
