In order to continue to reach our goals as a company, we are seeking an experienced Activities Assistant to join our team. Candidates should be able to perform the essential responsibilities as well as meet the qualifications listed.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Establishes and maintains a good rapport and supportive relationships with all residents and families or sponsors.
- Promotes an atmosphere that encourages self-expression of residents' needs, concerns, abilities, and choices.
- Continues development and expansion of activities designed to enhance and enrich the residents' lifestyles to include :
Social stimulation
Physical exerciseCommunity and family interactionConstructive and productive use of timeMaintains both daily and monthly schedule of activities. Informs and assists residents in regard to activities.Attends resident's council / grievance committee to encourage the residents' involvement and provides means for ensuring the rights of residents.Promotes recreation programs including music, dance, arts and crafts, cultural arts, nature study, social recreation and physically and mentally stimulation exercises.Introduces new program activities, equipment, and materials to staff.Interprets recreation service to public and participates in community meetings an organizational planning.Works in conjunction with administrative or other professional personnel such as those engaged in medicine, social work, nursing, psycho-social counseling, and therapy, to ensure that recreation is well balanced, coordinated, and integrated with special services.Assists in the maintenance of files as follows :Individual resident information pertaining to personal interests, abilities, need, etc. - Social History
Community resourcesVolunteer sourcesActivity resource materialsInventory of craft and project suppliesRecord of expendituresSubmits budget for program development.Reports operational activities to administrative staff and confers with Activities Director to plan and implement changes in operation of facilities.Knowledgeable of and implements all safety, universal precautions, and Company policies / procedures for the protection of residents, co-workers, and self.PHYSICAL, COGNITIVE, AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS :
Must be able to move intermittently throughout the work day.Ability to remain calm under stress.Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel and support agencies.Ability to demonstrate patience, tact, courtesy, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude.Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile residents within the facility.Ability to read and write in English.Must be able to lift and transfer a minimum of 25 pounds.EDUCATION / EXPERIECE
