POSITION SUMMARY
- The RN First Assistant, under the supervision of the surgeon will assist the surgeon in performing a safe operation with optimal outcomes for the patient during the intraoperative phase of the perioperative experience, including those in the Patient Population served The RN First Assistant demonstrates competency in perioperative nursing and must have acquired the necessary specific knowledge, skills and judgments. The RN First Assistant does not concurrently function as a scrub nurse.
- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Licenses and Certifications Required
- Current or temporary RN license in ND or compact RN licensure.
- Current CNOR, RNFA.
- Current BLS and ACLS.
- Educational Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and RNFA core curriculum, as evidenced by licensure.
- Official diploma or transcript from the school/university from where Degree was received.
- Experience Requirements
- 2 years perioperative services experience.
- Special Skills or Training Requirements
- Demonstrates knowledge of surgical anatomy, physiology and operative procedures.
- Demonstrates knowledge and skill in applying principles of asepsis and infection control.
- Demonstrates ability to function effectively and harmoniously as a team member.
