What are the responsibilities and job description for the RN III ONCOLOGY position at Trinity Hospitals?
- POSITION SUMMARY
- Oncology nurses are nurses who specialize in the support and care for patients diagnosed with cancer. They approach patients with empathy and care, administer chemotherapy and/or other treatments, educate patients about their diseases; and manage illness and cancer-related symptoms. They collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary team members to provide physical and psychological support to patients as well as their significant others. The oncology nurses also provide support and care for a variety of patients other than those diagnosed with cancer that come to our center for their care.
- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Licenses and Certifications Required
- Current or temporary RN license in ND or compact RN licensure
- BLS certification required preferably at hire, but no later than 30 days from date of hire
- OCN/ONCC certification strongly preferred
- Prefer ACLS certification attained during employment
- Educational Requirements
- BSN preferred
- Fundamentals of Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Administration within 6 months of date hired, to be replaced by Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate Course within 18 months of hire, renewed per certification requirements
- Experience Requirements
- Oncology nursing experience strongly preferred
- Use of electronic health record required
- Special Skills or Training Requirements
- Computer knowledge
- Good communication skills
