Leading full-service investment banking and capital markets firm is seeking an experienced Data Modeler with expertise in relational databases and AWS Cloud technologies to join our data management team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and maintaining scalable data models to support business intelligence, data integration, and cloud-based data warehousing solutions. This role will involve collaboration with data architects, engineers, and business stakeholders to ensure data structures meet business and technical requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models for relational databases and cloud data warehouses on AWS.
- Collaborate with business and technical teams to gather data requirements and translate them into effective data models.
- Optimize database structures to ensure performance, scalability, and reliability of data systems.
- Work with AWS services such as Redshift, S3, Glue, and RDS to design and implement cloud-based data solutions.
- Maintain and document data dictionaries, data lineage, and metadata for all data models.
- Ensure data model designs align with data governance, security, and compliance standards.
- Support ETL processes and data pipelines by providing guidance on data structures and relationships.
- Troubleshoot and resolve data model-related issues, ensuring data consistency and integrity.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5 years of experience in data modeling for relational databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, or PostgreSQL.
- Experience with AWS Cloud services like Redshift, S3, Glue, and RDS.
- Strong knowledge of data warehousing concepts, Star/Snowflake schema, and data normalization/denormalization.
- Proficiency in ER modeling tools (e.g., ER/Studio, Erwin, or similar).
- Hands-on experience with ETL processes and data integration.
- Strong SQL skills for querying and analyzing relational databases.
- Familiarity with data governance and security best practices.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with NoSQL databases and big data technologies (e.g., DynamoDB, Athena, EMR).
- AWS Certification (e.g., AWS Certified Data Analytics Specialty, AWS Certified Solutions Architect).
- Familiarity with Python or other scripting languages for data processing.
- Experience in metadata management and data cataloging tools like AWS Glue Data Catalog.
