Position Summary

We are seeking a Principal Data Scientist with deep expertise in Generative AI (GenAI) to shape and expand our data science capabilities. This role requires a hands-on technical leader with the credibility to engage across technical and business audiences, especially. The ideal candidate will bring entrepreneurial energy to help clients solve complex medical challenges through innovative AI-driven solutions.

Essential Functions

Technical Leadership

• Model Development & Deployment: Design, build, and implement advanced AI/ML models, including expertise in Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), LLM frameworks (e.g., LangChain, Llama Index), context management, and agentic flows.
• Methodological Expertise: Maintain and communicate credibility in statistical and AI methodologies, leading discussions on advanced techniques and shaping Trinity’s approach.
• GenAI Innovation: Stay at the forefront of emerging trends in Generative AI and its applications, particularly in life sciences, ensuring Trinity remains a thought leader in the field.
• System Development: Collaborate with engineering teams to deploy scalable solutions, with general knowledge of full-stack development (Python, React, Django/Flask, Streamlit) and proficiency in databases (SQL/NoSQL, Milvus, Neo4J).

Domain Expertise in Life Science Commercial / Medical Affairs

• Life Science Commercial / Medical Affairs Knowledge: Bring experience addressing life science challenges faced in commercial and or medical affairs teams, including the use of Real-World Data (RWD) to answer complex questions.
• Audience Credibility: Build trust with non-technical audiences, translating technical concepts into actionable insights.
• Client Advisory: Guide clients in defining impactful, resource-efficient solutions, serving as a peer and trusted advisor.

Team Leadership

• Team Management: Lead, coach, and oversee a global team of data scientists, ensuring excellence and delivery across diverse geographies.
• Culture Building: Drive a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continual learning within the team, encouraging technical growth and cross-functional synergy.

Thought Partnership

• Emerging Trends: Analyze and apply developments in GenAI, exploring their impact on business and medical applications.
• Strategic Vision: Collaborate with organizational and client leaders to shape value propositions, blending AI capabilities with data and products to address client needs.
• Thought Leadership: Represent Trinity as a visible thought leader in AI and medical affairs, speaking at conferences, publishing insights, and building external credibility.

Client Orientation

• Relationship Building: Develop and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring satisfaction and success.
• Problem-Solving: Partner with clients to scope projects and define impactful approaches, balancing technical feasibility and business value.

Qualifications

Education

• Master’s or PhD in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Biomedical Informatics, Computational Biology, or a related discipline.

Technical Expertise

• Extensive hands-on experience in Generative AI, including LLM architecture, fine-tuning methods for text and vision, and integration into business solutions.
• Proficiency in Python, with a strong foundation in object-oriented programming (preferred but not essential).
• Familiarity with full-stack development and database systems (e.g., vector databases, graph databases).

Domain Expertise

• Significant experience in commercial or medical life science, with a proven track record of solving challenges through AI in life science
• Ability to engage effectively with technical and non-technical audiences, bridging the gap between complex AI solutions and domain needs.

Leadership and Collaboration

• Demonstrated success in leading and mentoring global technical teams.
• Strong interpersonal and entrepreneurial skills, fostering collaboration across diverse skill sets and disciplines.

Client Focus

• Experience shaping, scoping, and delivering impactful client solutions, with a focus on driving success and building trust.

Trinity’s salary bands account for a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets and market demand for skills; level of experience and training; specific qualifications, performance, time in role/company, geographic location, and other business and organizational needs. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $220,000 - 260,000. 

In addition to your base salary, you will also be eligible for an annual discretionary performance bonus.

Salary : $220,000 - $260,000
