Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Freight Operations Coordinator to join our logistics team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of load boards, freight routing, and the logistics industry. This role is essential for ensuring timely and efficient movement of freight, optimizing routes, and maintaining strong communication with carriers and customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Use load boards to find and book freight loads for transportation.
- Coordinate and route freight efficiently to meet customer delivery requirements.
- Communicate with drivers and carriers to ensure timely pickup and delivery of goods.
- Optimize routes based on fuel efficiency, time constraints, and delivery windows.
- Maintain accurate records of loads, deliveries, and freight schedules.
- Negotiate rates with carriers and ensure competitive pricing.
- Monitor the progress of shipments and address any issues or delays that arise.
- Provide exceptional customer service by maintaining positive relationships with clients and carriers.
- Utilize transportation management software and load boards effectively for all shipments.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience with load boards (e.g., DAT, Truckstop.com, Loadsmart, etc.) and freight routing.
- Strong knowledge of logistics, transportation, and the freight industry.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in using transportation management software (TMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically under pressure.
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant industry certifications or training is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in dispatch or freight brokerage.
- Familiarity with transportation regulations and industry standards.
