Job Description for Childcare Teacher I
Accountability: Primary—Childcare Director, Secondary—Childcare Teacher II - LEAD

Purpose
Under the indirect supervision of the Childcare Teacher II - LEAD, the Childcare Teacher I will be empowered and supported to serve as caretaker for the children in the Trinity Lutheran Church & School Childcare program and/or the extended childcare program (ECC).
Responsibilities
· Demonstrate faith in Jesus Christ in attitudes and behaviors to all under his/her direction and care
· Demonstrate competency by being able to physically, mentally, and emotionally able to to provide responsible care for children of all ages, including children with disabilities
· Plan and carry out a schedule and activities with the Childcare Teacher II - LEAD and other Childcare staff
· Nurture and care for co-workers, parents and children in a loving and Christian manner
· Work to solve any discipline problems with the Childcare Teacher II - LEAD’s direct supervision
· Through daily communication, keep the Childcare Teacher II - LEAD informed
· Through personal interaction at drop-off and pick-up, keep the parents informed of daily happenings and schedules specific to their child
· Work as an effective member as a team through effective communication, a spirit of reconciliation, and behaviors consistent with the Staff Team Covenant
· Maintain an active worship life within the Christian church
· Assist the Childcare Director in the planning and implementation of special events
· Attend and prepare for Staff meetings and devotions as assigned
· Carry out delegated work duties. Each of us is given special gifts from God. While certain duties will be assigned to specific staff members, other duties will be assigned or reassigned to utilize these special gifts. The Childcare Director will have final authority on the delegation of work duties.

Minimum Qualifications
· Be an active member of a Christian church
· Support the mission and purpose of Trinity Lutheran Church & School, gathering people who grow in faith and sharing Jesus with all
· Be at least 18 years old
· Show evidence of love for teaching children in a Christ-centered environment
· Maintain confidences, be respectful, courteous, and be an effective listener/communicator with staff, parents and children
· Be professional, reliable, poised, punctual and enthusiastic
· Completion of continuing education as required to promote a growth mindset
Minimum Professional Qualifications
· Completion of the following department-approved training within the specified timeframes of assuming the position:
- Child abuse and neglect training within 1 week
- Abusive Head Trauma Prevention for Child Care Providers within 1 week (includes SIDS/SBS as of August 2020)
- Introduction to the Child Care Profession within 4 months
- Completion of Fundamentals of Infant and Toddler Care within 6 months
- Pre-hire requirements including a Background Check and pre-employment screening
- Sexual Abuse Awareness Training upon hire
- Completion of Trinity-specific and department-specific Orientation within 1 week
· Experience in working with young children
· Exercise good judgment in care of children appropriate to age group
· Physically able to bend, stoop, sit on floor and lift light objects and infants
Preferred Qualifications
· Be an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church & School in Wausau.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 30 per week
