What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Director of Dining Services position at Trinity Place?
Trinity Place is looking to hire an Assistant Director of Dining Services. Pay will be discussed upon interview. Position has a schedule of Monday - Friday with Alternate weekends.
The Assistant Director of Dining Services is responsible for assisting the Director of
Dining Services in the orderly operation of the Dining department, and will perform
duties usually carried out by the Director of Dining Services in case of absence, or as
assigned.
Essential Functions (Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals

1. Assists Director in ensuring that kitchen operates in an orderly fashion and meets
health safety and regulatory requirements.
2. Visits residents to determine food preferences and to periodically evaluate dining
food service.
3. Processes diet changes and new diet orders. May communicate with residents and
family members regarding diet requirements. Ensures accuracy of meals served in
relation to physicians orders.
4. Supports Director with employee selection, training, coaching, supervision, and
evaluation of staff.
5. Maintains present equipment in good state of repair through supervision and
reporting responsibilities.
6. Coordinates dietary service with other departments. Confers with and secures
advice from Consultant Dietician.
7. Represents dining services department in institutional committees as assigned.
8. May participate in clinical documentation if trained and assigned, including
development of nutritional care plan and attendance at care plan meetings. May also
be required to document observations in progress notes on residents nutritional
status.
9. Participates in continuing education and assists Director in providing education to
dining services staff, as necessary and as assigned.
10. Completes other assigned duties as may be necessary for the orderly operation of
the facility.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Dining Services staff
Qualifications (Minimum Job Requirements):
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Previous food industry experience in health care environment.
Specific skills/abilities: Knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Power
Point). Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge and technical skills to operate the following:
1. Stoves, ovens, convection ovens, microwave ovens
2. Toaster, blender, mixer, kitchen utensils including knives
3. Coffee machines and urns, juice machines
4. Meat slicers
5. Steamer, steam table and kettles
6. Dishwashers, dryers, pot sink and related sterilizing equipment
7. Food scales, transport carts, and cleaning equipment
Specialized knowledge, licenses, etc.: D.M.A. certification preferred but not required.
Knowledgeable of local health regulations and state laws pertaining to dining services
and food preparation.
Preferences (Optional):
1. Previous supervisory experience.
