The Burn Table Operator operates the machine to cut or perform other machining operations on steel. The Operator determines operation sequences, selects and adjusts machines to perform proper cutting/burning of the plate.
Requirements:
Essential Responsibilities/Duties:
- Design/Select cutting tools as needed
- Tests program to ensure machining operation(s) comply with print and specifications
- Ensures proper CNC program details are set up for the operator to run the assigned work order
- Must be able to identify and maintain the quality of the work being performed
- Maintains work area
- Responsible for following established safety practices
- All other duties as assigned
Aptitudes and Abilities:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, production schedules, work instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and information furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Mechanical aptitude
- Must have strong attention to detail
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
- Ability to communicate and work well with others throughout the organization
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in unique situations
- Physical requirements of the job will include lifting, standing, bending, pushing, pulling, etc.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- This position requires long periods of standing.
- Requires frequent kneeling and bending and considerable use of hands and tools.
Education/ Training:
- High School degree or equivalent
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a CNC machine operator with burn table experience or other related CNC machine operation in heavy industry or similar demonstrated numerically controlled machine operation abilities
