The Role
Operate a 40-ton overhead bridge crane to handle steel coil & pipe. Utilizes overhead crane to lift, move, and position loads, such as machinery, equipment, products, and solid or bulk materials, using hoisting attachments, such as hook, sling, electromagnet, or bucket: Observe load hookup and determine safety of load, following all federal, state, local and company regulations, laws, policies, rules, and practices.
Key Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Manipulates or depresses crane controls, such as pedals, levers, and buttons, to regulate speed and direction of crane and hoist movement according to written, verbal, or signal
- Cleans and maintains crane and hoisting
- Inspects crane for defective parts and notifies supervisor of defects or malfunctions and completes daily shift
- Performs visual inspection including taking samples, recording raw material characteristics, and receiving
- Communicates with management on inventory and raw material
- Responsible for housekeeping in and around operational
- Assist maintenance in proper upkeep of crane and fill out maintenance work orders as
- Daily inspection of lifting devices (chains, hooks, slings, wire rope) to insure fitness of
- Utilize small JCB telehandler to handle steel plate, pallets, and equipment.
- Utilize cutting torches, plasma cutters and welding equipment.
- Utilize various hand tools and equipment.
- Perform other various tasks within the manufacturing process of helical steel pipe.
