What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teacher of Physical Education and Fitness Teacher/Athletic Coach position at Trinity School?
Trinity School, a co-educational, K-12 institution located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, seeks a full-time Physical Education and Fitness Teacher (experience with advanced strength and conditioning a plus) beginning September 1, 2025.
As a Physical Education and Fitness Teacher, the faculty member may teach K-4 swimming and creative movement classes as well as physical education in the Middle and Upper Schools. The position includes two to three seasons of coaching Middle and Upper School teams.
Coaching experience in wrestling, boys’ lacrosse, and/or track and field is a plus.
The successful candidate will possess:
- A dedication to improving the health and well-being of their students through developmentally appropriate instruction;
- A deep knowledge of fundamental movement skills and the ability to communicate this knowledge in a fun, positive, and motivating manner;
- Experience and confidence in teaching swim to Lower School students;
- An ability to work collaboratively and generously with colleagues, both on teaching and coaching teams and across school divisions;
- Highly effective classroom management skills that maintain a safe learning environment;
- Intellectual curiosity and a commitment to ongoing professional development; and
- Excellent interpersonal skills, an adaptable attitude, and a sense of humor.
Qualifications for the role include:
- A Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in physical education or other related field;
- Prior experience working with Lower School students in a physical education environment; and
- Prior experience coaching Middle and/or Upper school teams.
