Position Overview
Under the general supervision of the Barn Manager and Assistant Barn Manager, Barn Hands assist in the care and well-being of all animals, maintain the cleanliness of the barn and grounds, and support various STRIDES programs and events. STRIDES provides therapeutic riding lessons for individuals with disabilities through Trinity Services, Inc., as well as riding lessons for the general public. The program also hosts birthday parties, petting zoo experiences, photo shoots, and other special events.
Hours: Sunday and Monday from 7am-3pm (16 hours/week)
Pay: $17/hour

Essential Functions
- Clean animal stalls, enclosures, and pastures
- Feed and groom animals
- Maintain barn cleanliness (sweeping, dusting, organizing)
- Tack up horses for lessons
- Walk horses or assist as a side-walker during lessons, events, and parties
- Assist in riding lessons, camps, petting zoo visits, and public events
- Care for tack and equipment
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
- Equine experience is preferred but not required
- Lift over 50 pounds from floor to waist unassisted
- Push and pull up to 75 pounds
- Perform deep knee squats and other physical movements as needed
- Push wheelchairs up to 200 pounds
- Stand or sit for prolonged periods
- Operate motor vehicles as required
- Engage in various physical activities, including balancing, pulling, pushing, standing, climbing, stooping, crouching, crawling, kneeling, reaching, lifting, and repetitive motion
- High school diploma
