Position Overview
Under the direction of the Clinical Director, as well as guidance from the Vocational Counselor and Without Walls Coordinator, the Community Development Counselor would be a resource during evening and weekend shifts. This staff would place an emphasis on providing meaningful activities to foster community connectedness and develop important skills as well as allow persons served to flourish in the community. Also, there would be some focus placed on developing vocational skills when relevant.
Work Location: New Lenox, IL
Work Hours: Minimum 4 shifts a month; maximum 16 hours a week; primarily evening (after 5pm) and weekend hours
Salary: Bachelors $25 per hour; Master’s Degree (QMHP) $35 per hour; LSW/LPC $45 per hour; LCSW/LCPC $50 per hour

Essential Functions
- Plans and participates in community outings for persons served in our agency, including driving individuals on these outings with an agency vehicle.
- Assists in making meaningful moments and progress towards flourish plan goals within the outings
- Communicates with other staff on an individual’s team to share and hear information and progress about a person served in an effective, appropriate, and timely manner.
- Writes billing notes to document services completed in a timely manner.
- Researches community outings that are meaningful to individuals and connects them to their flourish plan goals.
- As needed, works with individuals on a clean crew with a focus in skill development to work towards community employment
- Strong written and verbal communication

- An ability to plan ahead and schedule events/outings
- Willingness to utilize behavioral interventions to assist persons while in the community
- Able to interact effectively with staff and program participants and promote appropriate boundaries
- Able to execute policies, procedures, and regulations and when necessary, explain them to program participants, family members, members of the community, and staff from other agencies
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Master’s Degree (or in grad school) preferred
- Be able to lift over 40 pounds from floor to waist unassisted
- Be able to push and pull 75 pounds
- Be able to complete deep knee squats
- Be able to push wheelchairs up to 200 pounds
- Remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods
- Operate motor vehicles
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard reach, stoop kneel to install computer equipment
- Physical activities that could be used include: driving, balancing, pulling, pushing, standing, climbing, grasping, stooping, crouching, crawling, kneeling, reaching, lifting, and repetitive motion.
