Director of Assistive Technology Supports
SALARY: 60,000-90,000

We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Director of Assistive Technology Supports to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in assistive technology and a deep understanding of the unique needs and challenges faced by individuals with disabilities. As the Director of Assistive Technology Supports, you will play a key role in assessing clients' needs, recommending appropriate assistive technology solutions, and providing training and support to ensure successful implementation and usage.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate clients' functional abilities, limitations, and assistive
technology needs.
- Collaborate with clients, caregivers, and interdisciplinary teams to develop customized assistive technology
- Research and evaluate the latest assistive technology products and solutions to determine their suitability for different use cases and populations.
- Discuss technology solutions and answer questions in plain, easy to understand language
- Provide hands-on training and technical support to clients on the use of assistive technology devices and
software applications.
- Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements related to assistive technology and accessibility standards.
- Document assessment findings, recommendations, and progress notes in compliance with confidentiality and privacy regulations.
- Has an understanding of the Medicaid system, funding, and reimbursement streams available for assistive technology.
- Periodically organize and host conferences on assistive technology.
- Present at local and national events on a variety of topics related to assistive technology.
In addition to providing individualized recommendations and support, the Director of Technology Supports also assists with developing and implementing organizational initiatives that help to mitigate some of the challenges currently faced by our field. For example, the use of remote supports in certain locations allows our organization to - in part - address budget limitations and staffing shortages.
The Director of Assistive Technology Supports also serves as a resource to the larger community. For example:
- May serve on various teams and committees that provide guidance to state officials on matters related to assistive technology and funding.
- Regularly host tours of the TEC Lab to better acquaint community members with what is possible through the use of technology.
- Provide individualized consultations to people and groups not affiliated with Trinity Services.

- Experience with web design/maintenance.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Candidates should be able to meet the following physical requirements:
- Remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods;
- Loading and unloading equipment weighing up to 50 pounds to and from a vehicle;
- Operate electronic devices such as desktop/laptop computers, tablets, smartphones, and other assistive technologies;
- Install equipment/devices in various locations where use of a stepstool/ladder and hand/power tools is necessary;
- Repetitive tasks related to building products or preparing for events (such as wire stripping, PVC cutting, acrylic scoring, and kit assembly)
- Storage of supplies (which may require lifting, bending, standing, pushing, and pulling); and,
- Operation of motor vehicles, occasionally over long distances.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates should possess the following qualifications:
- An undergraduate degree in the human services field or comparable experience working in the developmental disability field;
- Successful completion of the California State University Northridge (CSUN) Assistive Technology Certificate Program, Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America (RESNA) Assistive Technology Professional Certification, or involvement in SHIFT's credentialing and certification program. Comparable education, certificates, and experience can be considered in lieu of the CSUN, ATP, or SHIFT requirement; If not already certified a commitment to complete this program which will be reimbursed by Trinity Services.
- Prior experience working with or supporting someone with a disability – preferably within a provider organization;
- Proficiency in operating electronic devices such as desktop/laptop computers, tablets, smartphones, and other assistive technologies;
- Pass all background screenings, including approval to drive agency vehicles; and,
Experience in website maintenance and social media platform management is preferred.
