Job Description for
Director of Human Resources
Salary: 110,000-140,000
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Director of Human Resources is responsible for the strategic leadership and overall management of the Human Resources department. This position will develop, implement, and oversee policies, initiatives, and operations to support the organization's mission while ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. The Director will provide expert guidance on employee relations, talent management, and workforce development to enhance organizational effectiveness and employee engagement.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Collaborates with executive leadership to align the organization's workforce strategy with its overarching goals, ensuring effective staffing, recruitment, and retention initiatives.
- Develops, implements, and oversees policies, processes, and training programs that support compliance, operational efficiency, and a positive workplace culture.
- Administers or provides oversight for key Human Resources programs, including but not limited to:
a. Compensation and benefits administration
b. Family and medical leave management
c. Performance evaluations and disciplinary processes
d. Employee relations, including dispute resolution and investigations
e. Employee recognition programs
f. Workplace health and safety compliance
g. Unemployment claims management
h. Equal employment opportunity compliance and discrimination claims response
i. Tuition reimbursement program administration
j. Cookie Jar Program (employee financial assistance program)
k. Sign-on and referral bonus programs
- Plans and executes the organization's annual employee recognition event and leadership retreat.
- Identifies staffing and talent acquisition needs; implements best practices for recruitment, hiring, and workforce development.
- Develops and distributes comprehensive reports and workforce analytics using the organization's human resource information system (HRIS) to inform decision-making.
- Collaborates with union representatives and the labor management team; serves as the lead negotiator in labor management discussions and contract negotiations.
- Ensures organizational compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations; regularly reviews and updates policies to reflect legislative changes and industry best practices.
- Provides leadership development programs and training to enhance managerial effectiveness and employee engagement.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- A bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is required; a master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred.
- A minimum of five years of experience in a Human Resources role, demonstrating progressive responsibility in areas such as leadership, employee relations, talent acquisition, compliance, and workforce development.
