What are the responsibilities and job description for the Trinity Safety and Security Officer position at Trinity United Church of Christ - Chicago?
Work Direction: The Safety and Security Officer works under the direction of the Supervisor and/or Team Lead for Safety and Security Department who reports to the Executive Pastor.
Basic Function: The Safety and Security Officer is responsible for securing Church properties/facilities against vandalism and theft, by using up-to-date approaches for professional approach providing a safe environment for congregants and visitors. The Safety and Security incumbent will interface with Church officers, members, guests, staff and all other persons who come to participate in the life of this Church and/or conduct business on the premises.
Requirements: This position requires a High School or GED graduate. Candidate must have a 20 (twenty) hour Security Certificate, current and valid PERC and must also pass a background check, a physical, and fingerprinting requirements.
Additionally, the incumbent must demonstrate the ability to work well with others. Ability to follow written and oral instructions is a must and the incumbent must demonstrate a good command of basic verbal and written communications skills. The ability to work under stressful conditions and in difficult situations is required. The candidate must have the physical ability to lift, carry, pull, and push items up to 30 pounds in weight. Additionally, the candidate must be able to tolerate extended periods of standing, walking, noises, vibrations, stooping, and kneeling. Normal hearing and vision or correctable vision to normal levels is required. Valid driver’s license a plus.
Work Schedule: The Safety and Security Officer shall general work forty (40) hours each week in accordance with the schedule personally arranged, and mutually agreed to with the Manager, Security Services.
Working Conditions: This position is susceptible to job hazards; so protective clothing must be worn at all times. Additionally, this position does require unusual or excessive physical exertion.
