The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at Trinity University invites applications for a one-year position as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Spanish language, literature, and culture. Applicants must have met the requirements for the Ph.D. by August 2025.The successful candidate will be expected to teach Spanish language courses at all levels, as well as upper-division courses in Spanish on a variety of subjects related to the literature and culture of the Spanish-speaking world. Additionally, the candidate may teach courses in the Pathways general curriculum focusing on writing, oral and visual communication, and/or engaged citizenship. This one-year position requires a course load of 3 courses per semester (3/3).
Candidates must demonstrate excellence in teaching and a commitment to an inclusive classroom, to engage in the university community, and support the ideals of a liberal arts education. Preference will be given to candidates who specialize in 20th and 21st centuries Spanish or Latin American, Latinx literature and cultures, transatlantic studies, Latino/a/x studies, and/or diasporic studies.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
Required: Demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching and pedagogy for both language and culture, as well as the ability to offer rigorous and creative courses in the Spanish language program at the beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels that will be part of the Spanish major and/or the common curriculum (Pathways) at Trinity University.
Preferred: Preference will be given to candidates with an active research profile in 20th and 21st centuries Spanish or Latin American, Latinx literature and cultures, transatlantic studies, theatre, Latino/a/x studies, and/or diasporic studies.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Be fluent (native or near-native) in both Spanish and English; all varieties of Spanish spoken around the globe are welcome.
