What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance / Shop First Line Supervisor position at TrinityRail?
RSI Logistics, recently acquired by Trinity Industries, is searching for a Maintenance Shop First Line Supervisor. This role is a key contact as it relates to our railcar asset data and equipment maintenance needs and provides direction and supervision to direct reports in the areas of maintenance, shop and asset data coordination. This team will maintain up to date railcar asset, mechanical, lease and rider information. Additionally the team will manage the railcar repair and maintenance shopping events quickly, economically, and efficiently to minimize out of service time and provide value to our client. This role is also responsible to ensure compliance with all AAR / DOT / FRA and other applicable environmental, Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations. As the supervisor, you will interact directly with the client, railroads, railcar shops, railcar owners, and other RSI personnel.
What you'll do :
- Oversee maintenance, shop and asset data coordinator s; onboard, train and ongoing management aligned with RSI standards.
- Provide leadership for performance of staff of coordinators
- Oversee the onboarding and training of new hires
- Create and maintain SOPs for Fleet Maintenance and applicable Company processes.
- Ensure Company Standards are achieved in all areas of maintenance and shop coordination
- Works in partnership with client to establish annual maintenance requirements (programs)
- Provides reports related to maintenance forecast and budget information
- Collaborate with client and car owners to ensure shopping instructions are accurate and complete
- Create bills of lading and / or diversion request to move the railcar(s) from client facility to home shops
- Select repair shop and mobile repair units based on price, location, type or repair, and availability
- Organize, update and maintain shop status reports and distribute as requested
- Monitor and maintain relationships with client, repair shops and car owners
- Expedite the established annual maintenance requirements (programs) based on client requirements to ensure deadlines are met. Participate in client-required meetings on this topic as needed
- Assist with OTMA requests required by the Federal Railroad Administration as needed in conjunction with regulatory requirements
- Create, collaborate, and assist in providing updated KPI's, as well as suggestions for improvement
- Determines work assignments, priorities, and procedures for subordinates
- Responsible for assigning, scheduling, and ensuring the quality and quantity of work
- Approves time off and schedule adjustments
- Provides training and coaching
