Overview
The Quality Specialist is responsible for the management of all Midland Binders plant ISO and Quality Systems. The core responsibilities of the position are to maintain specifications for raw materials and products, manage plant quality system, ISO 9000 and other relevant quality systems, and CAMP work process implementation. This position acts as liaison between the plant and commercial function for quality needs. They identify and lead quality improvements inside the plant to reduce customer issues.
Responsibilities
- Maintain ISO quality system certification and management of all outside audits.
- Support future IATF quality system certification and audit requirements.
- Serve as site focal point for training and coaching on quality management system.
- Monitor and improve the efficiency of the quality systems through non-conformances, internal auditing, MOC and root cause analysis.
- Plant CAMP focal point to address customer issues or quality complaints.
- Maintain system for monitoring regulatory requirements and trends, including QA related issues within the industry.
- As a quality coordinator to work with plant operators, lab technicians, and technical staff to resolve plant quality issues
- Oversee investigation and resolution of all customer complaints and provide technical support.
- Support new product and process introduction and provide technical support to plant operations
- Coordinate special analytical requests of Operations, Technical, R&D, Sales and Marketing
- Supports the Analytical Technician in laboratory related matters as needed.
- Manage raw material and product specs as well as non-conforming product systems.
- Ensure laboratory facilities, analytical instruments and inventory are maintained in an efficient and safe manner.
- Attend and participate in all required safety meetings and adhere to safety regulations and procedures.
- Supports EH&S participation program by performing safety observations and encouraging employee participation.
- Supports TIMS, ISO 9001, IATF 14001 and other management systems
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering or Significant relevant experience in the quality function.
- 3-5 years experience in managing plant Quality/ISO systems and driving quality improvements.
- 3-5 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing environment; experience with polymer technology preferred.
- Experienced in working with ISO audits and certifications.
