Summary

Trintech’s Senior Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing and managing the public and private cloud network infrastructure delivering SaaS services to global customers. This includes security, layered firewalls, routing, monitoring, F5 and other load balancers, and software-defined networking for VMware virtual machines and Kubernetes containers. Design, configuration, and compliance will require ongoing collaboration across Product, Engineering, Operations, and InfoSec teams to document business needs and technical requirements, evolve solutions, drive efficiency, and maintain excellence. Striking a balance that considers security, performance, availability, scalability, and cost will be key to success. Breadth and depth of technical expertise across vendors and tools and strong communication skills are required.

What You'll Do

• Inventory, document, audit, and continue to evolve the public and private cloud network infrastructure supporting cloud services delivered to SaaS customers from 18 global public and private cloud data centers.
• Configure and manage layered firewall products to ensure high availability, security, and performance. Recommend vendors and tools for intrusion detection/prevention, logging, monitoring, change and configuration management, performance testing, etc.
• Design and optimize network zones, subnets, and routing for SaaS traffic flows to ensure maximum isolation between customers, environments, and product components.
• Collaborate with SMEs from Product Management, Engineering, DevOps, Operations, and Information Security to plan changes and support new product feature/functionality. Focus will include key initiatives such as a Kubernetes-based data platform driving AI and Trintech LLM adoption across products and customers.
• Support and manage load balancers for Kubernetes containers and open source components (Nginx), cloud-scale applications (F5), and legacy solutions (Citrix).
• Ensure all deployed network components comply with documented standards. Drive changes to standards as needed to support new technologies and tools.
• Produce documentation needed for run books for 24x7 NOC and customer-facing Support teams, logging and alerts raised through a managed SIEM, and compliance and regulatory requirements (SSAE 18 SOC 1/2, ISO 27001, GDPR, etc.).
• Clearly articulate the implications of design decisions across relevant dimensions to stakeholders with varying levels of business acumen and technical expertise.
• Define “patterns” for single and multi-tenant SaaS services and product components. Examples include public and private cloud, single and multi tenant, and varied expansion patterns (e.g., one per world / region / data center / customer etc.).
• Maintain technical expertise across domains including web and SaaS applications; public and private cloud compute; traditional and software-defined networks and storage; and workloads in Kubernetes containers and virtual machines.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrated proficiency creating technical artifacts and/or documentation
• 7-10 years of experience supporting public and private cloud infrastructure inclusive of routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
• 5-10 years of experience supporting a 24x7 production environments with experience in large enterprise or cloud-scale SaaS environments preferred.
• Demonstrated proficiency with core networking concepts including Ethernet LAN, WAN, TCP/IP (IPv4 but not IPv6), L2 and L3 network design, L4 and L7 load balancing, software-defined network (SDN) technologies, routing protocols including BGP, firewall best practices, IPS/IDS configuration, etc.
• Experience supporting a range of web (IIS, Apache, Tomcat), database (SQL, NoSQL), and virtualization technologies (Kubernetes containers, VMs),
• Experience with public cloud services (AWS or Azure) and/or VMware private cloud data center environments (ESXi, vCenter, NSX, vSAN, SRM, etc.).
• Relevant technical certifications are a plus. Cisco certifications are not required or preferred since Trintech does not heavily utilize Cisco products or technologies.
