Job Description:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Mathematics Teacher to join our academic team at Trion High School to teach high school mathematics (grades 9-12). This is an exciting opportunity for an educator to inspire and challenge students in their understanding of mathematical concepts while fostering critical thinking skills. The ideal candidate will have the ability to teach a range of math courses, from Algebra to Calculus, and will actively contribute to a positive and enriching learning environment.
Responsibilities:
- Instruction: Teach high school mathematics courses including Algebra, Geometry, and Advanced Algebra (Algebra II).
- Lesson Planning: Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with the Georgia Standards of Excellence and the school's curriculum.
- Assessment: Regularly assess student performance through assignments, tests, projects, and exams. Provide constructive feedback to help students improve.
- Classroom Management: Create and maintain a classroom environment that encourages active learning, student participation, and mutual respect.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with fellow teachers and staff to foster a supportive and cohesive academic community.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with students, parents, and administration regarding student progress, academic goals, and any concerns.
- Professional Development: Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in teaching and mathematics education.
Qualifications:
- Required:
- A valid Georgia teaching certification in Math (7-12), or
- A four-year degree in a math-related field with the potential to obtain certification.
- Preferred:
- Applicants with experience in teaching dual enrollment college-level mathematics courses.
- Applicants who can coach a sport and contribute to the school’s extracurricular programs.
- Skills & Attributes:
- Strong knowledge of mathematics concepts and the ability to explain them clearly.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- A passion for working with high school students and fostering a love for learning.
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Organizational skills and the ability to manage a classroom effectively.
Priority Considerations:
- Applicants who are certified to teach dual enrollment college mathematics courses will be given priority.
- Applicants with coaching experience and the ability to contribute to the school’s athletic programs will also be given priority.
