Job Overview:

The Production Planner is responsible for managing customer orders and forecasts to determine ingredient and packaging requirements and for developing and maintaining the manufacturing schedule for the plant. This role involves close coordination with inventory management, bill of materials (BOM) revisions, and daily assessment of production needs. The successful candidate will lead or co-lead weekly manufacturing planning meetings to address potential risks in the current schedule and necessary changeovers in the upcoming schedule. Reporting to the Director of Operations, this role focuses on continuous improvement of demand planning and inventory management, collaborating closely with the purchasing and operations teams to ensure efficient production of customer products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop an 8-week or longer production schedule based on customer forecasts and incoming purchase orders.
  • Assess optimal production strategies to minimize changeovers and maximize efficiency.
  • Anticipate long lead items beyond the 8-week plan and coordinate with the purchasing team to ensure timely procurement.
  • Generate and distribute batching documents containing all formula information.
  • Utilize ERP software to issue ingredients and packaging for completed production runs and analyze cost differences against historical averages.
  • Prepare finished production reports, including yield loss data and On-Time-In-Full (OTIF) metrics, for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct inventory evaluations and, if necessary, perform physical counts to maintain inventory accuracy.

Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in planning, preferably in the food and beverage manufacturing industry.
  • Ability to engage with customers to understand demand forecasts and fluctuations.
  • Proficiency in planning ingredient and packaging orders to align with production schedules, allowing sufficient lead time for material procurement.
  • Knowledge of batching, filling, and packaging processes.
  • Capacity to align customer demand with plant and line capacity to optimize production.
  • Strong knowledge of ERP software, NetSuite experience preferred.

  • Collaborate with the Purchasing function to ensure adequate supply of all required materials and ingredients to support production plans.
  • Adapt schedule flexibly in response to changing customer demands and material availability.
  • Resolve problems promptly, professionally, and accurately.

Pay: $25.00 - $29.80 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 45 per week

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekends as needed
