The Senior Accountant plays a vital role within the accounting team, overseeing a wide range of responsibilities with direct visibility to the Director of Financial Reporting and Accounting and the CFO. This is a full-time, onsite role, requiring a hands-on approach to financial operations. The ideal candidate will act as a strategic financial partner to operations, providing managers with critical financial insights, ensuring compliance with bank loan covenants and reporting requirements, and supporting the Assistant Controller in daily, weekly, and monthly accounting functions.
Responsibilities:
- Assists in all phases of the closing and reporting functions, including preparing journal entries, analyzing and reconciling general ledger accounts, and analyzing variances in income statement and balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.
- Assists in the preparation of monthly, global consolidated financial statements, specifically relating to the reconciliation of all intercompany accounts, performing required eliminating entries, and making the necessary FX translation adjustments.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, corporate accounting policies and procedures.
- Applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports.
- Research accounting rules and regulations and prepare accounting memorandums documenting company policies. Additionally, may coordinate implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures.
- Prepares loan compliance certificates.
- Aid in the development and documentation of internal controls.
- Recommends improvements, adaptations, or revisions in the accounting system and procedures.
- Prepares audit schedules for annual, external audit and liaises with external auditors.
- Performs all aspects of fixed asset accounting and reporting, including maintaining fixed asset schedules, calculating depreciation, and organizing annual fixed asset inventory.
- Ensures adherence to corporate policies and procedures and compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations.
- Liaises with tax consultants and assumes responsibility for tax-related issues within the corporation.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor, including assistance with special projects and ad hoc reporting requests.
Qualifications:
- B.S. degree in Accounting.
- Minimum of three to five years of accounting experience.
- One to 2 years of experience in consolidated financial statement preparation preferred.
- Experience in audit, public accounting, or internal audit preferred.
- CPA certification preferred.
- Familiarity with industrial services or distribution operations preferred.
- Experience working with established ERP and GL systems (including eStelplan, Microsoft Dynamics, Infor / CSD).
- Position may require minimal travel (domestic or international).
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
