Trail Rides Program Manager (Part Time 80% FTE)
Position Overview
Responsible for coordinating, implementing, and administering Trips for Kids Bay Area (TFKBA) flagship Trail Rides and Earn a Bike (EAB) programs, including nurturing current and future nonprofit partnerships, leading trail rides, implementing ride & EAB curriculum, supervising other ride leaders, and tracking and reporting out program #’s, demographics and outcomes. The person in this role also enrolls students and leads EAB classes for youth 9 months of the year- the curriculum is already set. The Trail Rides Program Manager plays a key role in fostering a safe and inclusive, learning environment for youth.
Duties
Partner Agency Outreach:
- Timely outreach, bookings and calendaring of activities with partner agencies.
- Maintain agency contact database; prepare and provide invoices; and, monitor agency payments.
Program Coordination:
- Timely tracking and reporting of required data and metrics.
- Provide regular program updates and highlights for fundraising and media purposes.
- In consultation withExecutive Director, identify and address any program issues.
Ride Coordination:
- Oversee ride leadership to implement, up to 100 rides, annually.
- Coordinate logistics of meet time, ride duration, destination, curriculum, and all aspects of ride preparation, including permission slips, bikes, and gear.
Ride Leadership:
- Lead 3 - 6 trail rides weekly, of between 1.5 - 3 hours, incorporating basic introductory bike skills with an emphasis on safety and providing educational experiences along the way.
- Ensure that trail rides utilize and implement TFKBA’s curriculum, including the Trail Rides Group Guidebook, Trailside Nature Activities, the Trail Rides Project Resource Guide, and Social Emotional Learning tools.
Earn-A-Bike Program Oversight:
- Lead weekly in-person and/or on-line Earn-A-Bike (EAB) classes, focusing on basic bike mechanics, maintenance, and safe riding techniques.
- Deliver either a 4 week (2 classes a week) or 8 week (1 class a week) program (depending on partner org.) and during summer camp EAB program, ensuring that participants earn and receive a bike upon completion.
Additional duties as necessary and assigned.
Qualifications
- A personal passion for youth development/leadership, connecting youth to the natural world, and promoting healthy lifestyles.
- Affinity for cycling and basic knowledge of bike mechanics.
- Prior experience in youth cycling programs and/or educational programs preferred.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
