Job Summary and Qualifications

The Medical Technologist plays a critical role in the laboratory, collecting and preparing specimens, and conducting tests to assist in diagnosing and treating diseases. Responsibilities include ensuring regulations and policies are met, maintaining laboratory instruments, and accurately recording and reporting test results.

Key Responsibilities :

Possess in-depth knowledge of human physiology and how disease affects testing outcomes.

Adhere to specimen handling, processing, and record-keeping procedures.

Perform authorized tests, ensuring competence based on training and experience.

Evaluate test results and document findings in the Laboratory Information System.

Identify and address issues that may affect test performance, notifying appropriate personnel as needed.

Document corrective actions for any deviations from established performance standards.

Qualifications :

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and recent clinical laboratory experience.

OR Bachelor's degree in medical technology with clinical rotation.

National Registration as an MLS(ASCP)cm, MT(ASCP), or equivalent, or registry-eligible at hire.

Certification must be obtained within the first six months of employment if not held at hire.

Strong interpersonal skills for effective interaction with staff, patients, and vendors.
