Job Summary and Qualifications

The Division Director of Emergency Management oversees and coordinates all aspects of the TriStar Division Emergency Management Program in compliance with The Joint Commission and state regulations. The Division Director maintains operational readiness of the division and its staff for all hazard preparedness as well as coordinates disaster response or crisis management activities.

The Division Director represents TriStar Division in the community emergency preparedness coordination. This role works closely with Facility Representative for Emergency Management, medical staff, administration, department heads, ancillary/ nursing staff, and community personnel to coordinate all aspects of emergency management and preparedness for TriStar Division.

This individual supports the Division VP of Quality in preparation of information to enable the DCNE and nursing administration to make informed long-term and short-term decisions in matters of Emergency Management.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in emergency management, public health, health education, or a related field required
  • 5 years of experience in emergency management, preferably in a healthcare setting required
  • Certified Healthcare Emergency Professional (CHEP) preferred

What you will do in this role:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain System-Wide Emergency Management Plan in compliance with the Joint Commission and state regulations. Keep informed of activities or changes that could affect the likelihood of an emergency, as well as those that could affect response efforts and details of plan implementation.
  • Serve as an on-call Emergency Operations Command representative for the TriStar Division.
  • Learn and comply with system and facility safety policies and rules; must use appropriate safety equipment and procedures at all times; must immediately report all unsafe conditions to supervisors; must be familiar with all safety features of equipment, tools or materials encompassed by job duties; and must check with supervisors (prior to job performance) if there is a question as to the safe procedure to be used for any job function
  • Design and implement training programs and a minimum of two disaster exercises for TriStar Healthcare based on annually completed Hazardous Vulnerability Analysis (HVA) to test and evaluate the Emergency Response Plan, system response and TJC compliance.
  • Prepare and analyze reports to measure Emergency Management program outcomes, success, and overall system-wide preparedness.
  • Inspect facilities and equipment such as hospital command centers, communications equipment, and decontamination equipment in order to determine their operational and functional capabilities in emergency situations.
  • Lead the organization in facility or community disaster response.
  • Represent TriStar Division to coordinate the regional mutual aid initiatives and collaborates with other regional representatives to determine their needs and capabilities in the event of a natural disaster or other emergency. Coordinates emergency efforts at Regional Medical Operation Center (RMOC) during community wide disasters.
  • Assume accountability for promoting consistent, positive patient interactions that advance the agenda of unparalleled patient service.
  • Maintain a patient-first philosophy and engages in service recovery when necessary.
  • Support the development and implementation of strategies to elevate the patient experience.
  • Understand and remain committed to helping the TriStar Division and its associated facilities achieve its goals under the TriStar Financial Performance Plan by always being mindful of cost effectiveness in all duties.
