Claims Assistant _Hybrid

This is a hybrid position after in office training. The hybrid schedule after training will be working remotely from home two (2) days a week and three (3)days in the office at the client's location in Albany, NY.

Must be able to commute to New York State office of General Services in Albany, NY

Working 8 am - 4  pm ( hours per week / hours per day)

POSITION SUMMARY : Performs clerical (non-technical) duties to assist the technical staff in the processing of claims for our client New York State Office of General Services.

This position requires considerable interaction with client, claimants on the phone, and with management, claims examiners, claims supervisors, and other TRISTAR staff in the office; therefore, consistently being at work in the office, in a timely manner, is inherently required of this position.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Handles incoming and outgoing mail to include, sorting, stamping, indexing, distributing.
  • Prepares, types and mails completed new loss notices for filing or emailing.
  • Photocopies as directed by technicians
  • Monitors new claims arising in the new loss box, including the set-up, distribution, and completion of necessary forms such as acknowledgement letters, releases and CIB’s
  • Answers / routes department telephone calls for technicians. Initiates calls as directed by technicians to secure follow-up information ( bills)
  • Documents and maintains various logs as directed by the Client.
  • Generates reports as directed by the Client and Claims Manager
  • Trains and cross trains subordinates to provide back up support
  • May have some involvement with directing temp employees or new employees; or assisting in the interviewing process with supervisor
  • Other clerical support functions as directed by our client

EQUIPMENT OPERATED / USED : Computer, fax machine, copier, printer, and other office equipment.

SPECIAL EQUIPMENT OR CLOTHING : Appropriate business casual office attire

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED :

Education / Experience : High school diploma or GED required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

  • PC literate, including Microsoft Office products
  • Good oral and written communications skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to plan and prioritize workload
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to convey information to claimants and clients
  • Ability to interact with persons at all levels in the business environment
  • Ability to act independently
  • Proficient in Word and Excel (preferred).
  • Experience :

  • Two to three years of general office experience with at least one year of claims industry experience
