Job Description
A HR Specialist (S&C) is needed to support our government customer in Crane, IN. The ideal candidate will provide classification advice and administer specialty areas, including journey-level, entry-level, and merit promotion hiring.
Main Responsibilities:
- Classification advisor and administrator in multiple specialty areas
- Staffing advisement to management and leadership
- Collaboration with civilian HR specialists on staffing and classification matters
- Research and application of hiring authorities, such as direct hire authorities and merit promotion
- Guidance on recruitment strategies, sources, and special programs
- Merit system principles, prohibited personnel practices, and selection criteria development
- Qualifications reviews per OPM guidelines and determination defense
- Review and approval of job offers prior to sending to candidates
- Assignment and tracking of candidate tasks via USAStaffing Onboarding Manager
- Candidate communication regarding job offers and the hiring process
- Recruitment, relocation, and retention incentives review and evaluation
- Pay setting guidance and classification determinations for positions
- Support for branch quality assurance and audit-ready documentation endeavors
Key Skills:
- Mastery of Microsoft Office Applications, particularly Outlook, Excel, and Word
- Experience with Adobe and ability to manage multiple tasks and due dates concurrently
- Skill in adapting workload and schedule to accommodate emergent needs
- Independence in scheduling workday to accomplish assigned tasking
- Ability to research and communicate understanding gaps to Specialists, Leads, or Supervisor
- Construction and presentation of proposals for action based on research findings
- Clear communication through various media
- Troubleshooting known processes to identify causes for issues
Requirements:
- 3 years of direct Human Resource experience
- US Citizenship
- T3 Approval capability
Education and Certification:
- BS Degree required
