What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Estimator position at Tristate Armature?
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Construction Estimator to join our team. This role is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for electrical construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of electrical systems, construction methods, and material costs, as well as excellent analytical and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare detailed cost estimates.
- Analyze electrical blueprints, drawings, and other project-related documents to determine material, labor, and equipment costs.
- Solicit and evaluate quotes from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure cost-effectiveness.
- Develop detailed bid proposals and present estimates to management and clients.
- Identify potential risks, cost-saving opportunities, and alternative solutions for project execution.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, material costs, and labor rates.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to refine project scopes and budgets.
- Utilize estimating software and tools to develop and manage estimates.
- Assist in contract negotiations and change order evaluations.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and safety standards.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred) or equivalent experience in electrical estimating.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in electrical construction estimating.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, codes, and construction practices.
- Proficiency in estimating software Conest, Netsuite, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical documents.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of current industry costs, labor rates, and market trends.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with commercial, and/or industrial electrical construction.
- Familiarity with design-build and value engineering principles.
- Previous experience working with electrical contractors or general contractors.
- Professional certifications are a plus.
