Essential Function
Provide an optimum learning environment for children at child care center and assist director in supervising Early Childhood Education student assistants and Child Care staff. Works to develop the reputation in the community, including Triton College by attending training and events sponsored by outside organizations.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education
Experience: Minimum of one (1) year experience working with children 15 months-5 years old

Responsibilities
1. Reviews weekly lesson plans and resource units for all the classrooms in the Child Development Center. Provides feedback to teachers and assists in training and supporting developmentally appropriate curriculum in the classrooms.
2. Conducts weekly meetings with student teachers to plan weekly activities, provides resources and serves as a coach to support their continued learning and success at the Child Development
Center.
3. Assists the director in advising and evaluating student teachers. through informal, daily conversations and formally through an evaluation which is shared with students.
4. Coordinates parent-teacher conferences for the Child Development Center each semester and provides support to the teachers conducting the conferences as needed. Maintains daily contacts with parents/care-givers to insure the safety of participants, handle special circumstance and ensure resolution of parent concerns. Communicates and follows up both with parents, staff and administration on any issues which were addressed.
5. Ensure that assessments are scheduled and completed for the individual, cognitive, and social/emotional needs of all children. Ensure an understanding of the Ages and Stages Questionnaire for both the toddlers and preschool children. Serve as a coach to new teachers to train and conduct assessments with teachers as needed.
6. Assists the teacher and director in general layout of the classroom and various learning/activity areas. , including S.T.E.A.M. curriculum areas.
7. Responsible with the director to ensure that all medicines are administered to children as needed. Follows up with families to ensure that all doctor notes and medication administration forms are completed by the families before administering medication (including sunscreen and bug spray).
8. Coordinates field trips for the Child Development Center and creates a summer monthly activities calendar. Is responsible for obtaining supplies and implementing these activities in conjunction with the classroom teachers.
9. Maintains a healthy, safe and clean environment for all children. Takes the lead role as the Safety Coordinator for the school ensuring that new staff and students are trained on school health and safety procedures. Ensures that monthly fire drills are completed. Ensures that tornado drills and safety drills are completed two times annually. Keeps a record of staff CPR and First Aid training and ensures staff renewals are completed on time. Schedules safety trainings for staff, including Blood Borne Pathogens, Epi-Pens, Fire Extinguisher and other related trainings.
10. Leads daily learning activities, naps and exercises. and all other required teacher job functions while covering the various classrooms.
11. Insures that center meets DCFS, IDHS, CACFP and NAEYC Regulations.
12. Responsible, in conjunction with the Director, for maintaining, recording and submitting Illinois Department Human Services grant materials and form.
13. Responsible, in conjunction with the Director, for coordinating all meals and snacks with an outside catering agency. Reports school closures in a timely manner and keeps an accurate record of food received and served through the food program.
14. Arranges accurate billing and timely collection of tuition and maintaining tuition records. in conjunction with the Office Assistant and Director.
15. Responsible for assisting with the dissemination of announcements and notifications to families, staff, and administrators via phone, print, and automated messaging systems.
16. Responsible for promoting the school at Triton College and in the community. Reviews correspondence and flyers before they leave the school and makes sure that all parent manuals, tuition sheets and marketing materials are updated and accurate.
17. Performs other job related duties as necessary and as assigned by supervisor.
